Dr. Larry

Dr. Larry  is the “Horse Doctor.” He graduated with Dr. Madge from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1976, then came to Berne to practice. His practice is limited to horse reproduction. In his spare time he is a pastor at St. George Episcopal Church and raises Standardbred horses. He enjoys pheasant hunting with his bird dogs and long time hunting buddy, “The Sheriff.”

Dr. Madge

Dr. Madge is a 1976 graduate of Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine and has been practicing small animal medicine and surgery in Berne for over 30 years. She is the mother of four daughters and grandmother to eight grandkids.  The thing she likes most about working at Hickory Ridge Farm is the awesome team I work with and the stellar clients and patients that come here.

Valerie Smith

Valerie grew up on the farm and has had various jobs in her time with us. Among other duties, she was our stallion barn manager and assisted in the breeding of mares and daily care of all of the horses here on the farm. Currently she is the equine manager; working in the office shipping semen, keeping records and all of our managerial work straight. She has a couple German Shepherd Dogs  to keep her company in her down time. She also has a team of Percheron mares that she rides and drives.
